>Movies And Bloggers Meet

>

I am not a great movie buff and all, i am hardly into watching any movies, but today having nothing to do and a whole of lot time to waste, i decided to tune into HBO, after quite a long while. It was "finding john christmas" .the story was not the usual Hollywood thriller, with four action scenes, a love story and a helluva lot of visual effects. The story was in many was similar to what we people get to see in the majority of Indian films today, its got enough emotion to get the ladies shed a silent drop of tear. But what really captivated me was the way the story was delivered and the intenseness in the story.

all along i had been thinking that the Indians are the best when it comes to delivering commercial films based on emotions but this film proved otherwise.

there is a really big difference between the way the Indian directors and the people at hollywood deliver emotional flicks. i always feel that there is a kind of personal feeling that the indian directors touch ( or try to touch) which either makes the film a major success or a blunder at the box office. another thing i noticed was the fact that very few hollywood movies have portrayed the protagonist crying, or emoting in an intense manner. Probably that may be one of the reasons why the guys in California are better at making movies. i mean how many of us can stand dhanush, or surya or vikram or SRK crying in movie when the sentiments could be brought out in a different manner. A mere expression can talk a thousand words, but just to drive the point most of the Indian movies get the hero or the heroine to shed a tear and most of the times it becomes a big blunder in what might be an otherwise passable movie.

this particular story had a Santa clause (Max) who was responsible for the uniting of an estranged family, but the way the santa was brought in and out of the story was commendable. there is no big harry potter style magic nor is there any gandalf style dialogs, and yet the divine factor was blended with the normal life story in such a commendable manner that it really makes you think that this is no work of fiction but a real life narration. Compare this with our indian films , where an amman or a hanuman is brought in suddenly as a deus ex machina to bring the story back to the point.

i am waiting for a Tamil film that might show these emotions, in let us say a dispassionate manner. I personally feel that there has to be a difference between the passion and emotion. By passion i mean the director's passion to deliver the story line. i am still waiting and it seems like it is going to be one long wait.

there is going to be a bloggers meet on the 24th of june at the ascendas at around 3 p.m. all are welcome to hop in and share a word. and in case you are more interested in the grub rather than in petty talks (which i am sure is not the case) then for you people, it is going to be a EOTO meet.(Each One Treat One) so be there (with your purse)
