so i found some time today to experiment with that little oven that mom had shelved into the closet quiet a while ago and which mysteriously ended outside a couple of days ago.
so here is kausik's quick tip to make decent oatmeal and honey cookies. this recipe comes after a lot of googling and a lot of 'cutting short on ingredients' so that i need not go out to buy :D
- mix 3 table spoons all purpose floor, that is maida, a small teaspoon of baking soda and a small teaspoon of salt.
- beat a little butter ( a half inch slice of standard amul butter) and three table spoon of sugar. keep mixing untiil its kinda consistant. add a little curd (1 ladle) and some vanila essence.
- to mixture 2 add four table spoons of oatmeal and then stir well add mixture 1 next and keep stiring till consistant.
- Add all the goodies you can get from the fridge. i got a few cashews, some walnut, some raisins. add some honey as well, i mean why not :P
- uniformly distribute it onto to the baking tray. grease it very very lightly.
- bake at 160 - 190 deg cel. for around 15 mins. the time doesnt really matter keep looking at it until it turns a nice golden color. keep watching the smell as well.
- take out cool and server after ten mins.
- you just earned some rep points from the ladies of the house :)
gotchas
- dont put the goodies on top of the cookie before baking. it just doesnt cook well enough.
- dont check for hardness while in oven. IT WILL BE SOFT and will become hard only on cooling.
- go easy on the greasing else your cookie bottom is gona get burnt.
- learn to distribute the cookie in proper circular shapes. :)
