before you start reading, there is a disclaimer, if you are trying to find a correlation between the two parts of my blogpost title then be warned you will not find what you are looking for.
if you are reading this then it means you are neither Sherlock Holmes nor stephen dubner, you are probably one more vetti blogger like me,out there in blogsville lamenting about the day to day happenings.
the title of this blogpost was inspired from what i went through yesterday. In the morning it was the tirade of forwards from my friends who had themselves got it from their friends and who in their turn recieved it from their friends friend. the message says that there was more than a simple corelation between the "we are back" email message that was recieved by autorites minutes before the bombs went of in ahmedabad . aparently the bombings were in the sequence that followed the letters in the word BACK. Bangalore , Ahmedabad and so on. this part of the text message was interesting the following part is what made it an entire farce. Aparently C stood for chennai. the smartguy who started off this message muct probably be having an IQ similar to that of a drunken monkey, i for one, could name atleast 3 cities / towns that have their name starting from C and given sometime i can come up with many more. What ever made him choose chennai? may be he is from bangalore and hates chennai for its conservatism.[he hates the fact that we are always 'right']
The chennai police have to be lauded for the fact that they immediately got hold of the message chain and countered it with an offical message release that told everyone in no uncertain terms "DON'T PANIC".
this did not panic me at all, what really did, was the fact that all the petrol bunks in the city , or atleast near my place seemed to have run out of diesel again. we on panic mode decided to get our car filled up forecasting one more stint of the "chennai goes fuel dry" episode.
the last time around the blame was actually put on the "sloppy management" of barath petroleum that miscalculated their stock/supply. Aparently one of the mammoth oil tankers from the gulf, that carried crude, got a 'little' late.(just by 15 days). Next time dont blame the indian railways for not being punctual.
This time around i guess, it should again be another tanker that got lost in the sea.The situation should ease pretty soon. But a time will come when all the oil wells go dry and we will be fighting and even bombing to get every drop of oil we can get our hands on. its mighty depressing that there is simply not enough research being carried out in the fields of alternate fuel propelled vehicles. the once in a while release of a civic hybrid by honda is encouraging but is not in anyway near being justified as an earnest effort to move towards alternative vehicles. in the two wheeler domain i see quite a few scooty like vehicles zipping past silently on batteries. what i would like to see is a monster of a motorcycle matching a pulsar 220 and running on batteries. I would give anything to get hold of a vehicle like that.
Gosh, i am getting way OT. what i really wanted to say is that chennai is getting into very desperate times and we guys should probably get ready to face the situation. for starts go get your vehicle tanks filled up before petrol runs out.
