>This is one more reason for everyone to know why i consider J K rowling a bloody thief. The chronicles of Narnia was just about as perfect as the lord of the rings. The first part of the movie or rather the second book of the actual seven book series (septology ? )by C.S.Lewis ( who was a friend of JRR tolkein) is worth its two and a half hours. the story is about four children Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy who have been sent to a far of land in the middle of nowhere by their mother to avoid getting hurt in the air raids by the germans during the second world war. The movie is about how these four children different from each other in many ways, discover accidentaly, the way to enter the world of narnia where they will be confronted by the white witch and where they will side arms with aslan, the majestic, to liberate the world of narnia from the witch.
The transformation of peter from a unsure coward into a valiant warrior, Edmund from a selfish greedy and uncontrollable boy to the, just 'knight Templar' at the 'crusade' against evil is remarkably portrayed. Susan's change from a well nurtured careless and self centered teen into a warrior princess, to lead the troops of aslan in the war against the witch is also worth mentioning. but the most important and probably the best acting came from the youngest member of the cast, Georgia henly, who did a great work as Lucy the young sister of the three who was responsible in uniting her estranged brothers and sister and making them valiant soldiers.
unlike LOTR where there are just about too many characters, the story sticks itself only to a few characters, and special attention is given to portray them with the right characteristics.
The war scenes had the right mixture of dare devilry and graphics to make it look real. The professor of the house appeared only thrice and his dialog, small it may seem, is the invisible string that holds the fantasy of narnia together. Aslan's dialog were also well trimmed and made to blend properly with the story. The slaying of the witch ( who played her role well),and the crowning of the for children, especially of lucy, by Tumnus the faun, is probably the most believable end that can be given to a fairy tale fiction.
So, as the reign of the witch ends and when two Sons of Adam and two Daughters of Eve sit on the four thrones at the castle of Cair Paravel, The world of narnia tells how gandalf the grey was morphed with the professor to become professor dumbledore of hogwarts, how, the 'sword of gryffindor' was created when peter was gifted with the sword by the father of x-mas, and how the non-magical London mail became the magical hogwarts express.(there are many more similarities but i dont care to discuss).
The chronicles of narnia: the lion, the witch and the wardrobe is worth the ticket, and a worthwhile watch.
